Description
Rare 1929 Hickory National Banknotes were issued by banks in Hickory, North Carolina, during the National Banknote Era from 1863 to 1935. These notes were part of a system in which federally chartered banks could issue currency backed by U.S. government bonds deposited with the Treasury. Each note bore the issuing bank’s national number and serial number, making them unique to its issuing bank.
